Rachel’s “on her bike” challenge

/ / Uncategorized

Serious About Events company director Rachel Bourke is no stranger to a challenge! Since 2004 following the loss of her cousin, Rachel and the company tirelessly fund raise for Cancer Research UK. Rachel has run the New York Marathon, skydived from 15,000 feet and climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, which suffering from acute vertigo is quite a challenge in itself. The funniest one was the “calendar girls” style calendar all the staff did in 2005 and we do get asked are we doing it again!

To date Serious About Events and Rachel have raised a whooping £74,300 and have their sights firmly set on £100,000.

Rachel’s challenges are always something that pushes her totally out of her comfort zone and this time is no exception. Rachel is not a natural on a bike and is a very nervous cyclist. She can probably count the number of times she has been on a bike since 1976 and her Chopper bike on one hand! So next year, in 2017 she is going to take on the London to Paris cycle ride, 300+ miles over 4 days!

Fund raising started in February on all the Serious About Events and together with fantastic sponsorship donations the current total stands at a fantastic £10,972.00 The total was originally set at £10,000 which has now been increased to £20,000. Every penny raised will make such a difference to go towards research into treatments for all the different cancers and hopefully one day to find a cure.
