I always have a shudder when everyone starts talking about A word. As someone who never wants the summer to end, I hate being reminded that soon it will be Autumn. And we’ll all be back in jumpers, sweeping up leaves and watching the nights draw in.
However, the other A word I absolutely ADORE at this time of year is ALLEY. And this year Alley and Autumn have a really special significance. Life is gradually beginning to get back to the sort of normal we all love – a skittles game and a pint of beer. Many of your local skittles leagues are starting up – and we’re super excited, getting ready for our first four big skittles weekends.
Skittles is so much more than just a game. As we all know, it’s a glorious excuse to meet up with your mates, have a few pints and some good banter. Our big skittles family is very precious – we’re all linked by the fun of the game. And oh, how we’ve all missed the action on and off the alleys.
Here’s hoping you’ve already begun getting back together with your families, friends and team mates, having happy reunions. Plus organising plenty of fun and some cracking skittles games during the months ahead. The past 18 months have been tough for everyone. The pandemic has kept families apart, celebrations and commiserations have been postponed and of course sadly lives lost or changed forever.
Our fabulous Alley Autumn kicks off at the Derwent Hotel in Torquay on October 1. It’s a great hotel with amazing facilities and just a short stroll to the beach. Dip your toes in the briny by day and pop out at night to see the new seafront lights. Locals have mixed opinions but we all love ‘em. Then on October 15 we’ll be at Sand Bay in Weston- super-Mare for more action on the alleys and fun beside the sea. Then we have two cracking weekends at Torquay’s Carlton Hotel on November 12 and December 3. Don’t forget that two nights’ accommodation, meals, live entertainment, party nights and transport are all thrown in.
Don’t forget too – lots of people choose our weekends for their stag do or hen weekend. So if you or any of your family or friends are re-scheduling weddings and celebrations, our party weekends are perfect for a great get together. We take care of all the organisation. You just have to be there.
