What a fantastic feeling it was welcoming back 40 skittle teams at Sand Bay in Weston-super-Mare this October.
Before we announce the winners and finalists, we just wanted to say that the skittlers raised a staggering £1,611.92 between them for Cancer Research UK. This is the highest amount ever raised in any of events. So well done everyone. Read more about Rachel’s latest CRUK challenge in her November madness blog.
Anyway drum roll please for our proud winners, The Rebels from Cardiff for a very convincing victory. They’ve been coming away with us for more than 15 years now. Sand Bay is our biggest competition with 40 teams travelling from all over England and Wales to take part. The Rebels were way ahead of the field with 415 points, plus went home with a men’s highest scorer trophy for Alex Phipps on 60. Social Misfits’ Terri was the highest scoring lady with 55.
Runners up were the Trowbridge Rejects, followed by the Young Guns, the Vikings, the Indians, Highway Mix, the Falcons, the Gonads, the Krankies and the Castaways. All in all it was a great weekend with fantastic skittling and nifty footwork on the dance floor. We even welcomed a stag party who were first time skittlers but managed to win two of their skittle games. Well done lads. The guests all enjoyed two nights of great entertainment thanks to the amazing Sundaes and the energetic Wurlitzers.
It was a weekend of raising a glass or three with team mates and friends to celebrate being back on team tours and on the skittle alleys we all love.
