EXTRAVAGANZA BONANZA!!

Walk of Fame

There were bunny girls, wild west cowboys, superheroes, cops and robbers, and even Back to the Eighties (the decade that fashion forgot!).

Yes our Saturday night fancy dress was a sight to behold.  It wasn’t all beer and skittles.  We danced, we sang, we laughed the night away – to the sounds of fabulous party band, California Calling.  There’s no doubt that skittlers know how to party.

This was our third fabulous Extravaganza weekend where team play combined with singles and pairs competitions.  And it proved to be yet another three days of great sportsmanship and skills on the alleys.  So let’s salute our worthy winners one more time!

Huge congrats to the winners of our team competition, the Mighty Quacks from Trowbridge.  They totally quacked it (sorry couldn’t resist there…..) with a score of 407 in a keenly played final. Runners up were the Bombers from Cardiff on 386, Full Steam Ahead from Malvern just behind them on 383 and our fourth finalists the Wild Westers from Knowle on 366.  Fourteen teams took part in a fantastic competition from start to finish.  So well done to all the teams.

Meanwhile in the Singles and Pairs competition there were some equally nailbiting games.  Let’s start with the ladies singles finals – with two players ending up both on 33 points.  So it had to be decided on the highest individual score.  Ceri Lambeth emerged winner with Ani Morgan runner-up.  Fortunately they’re both great friends back in Barry, Wales!!

In the men’s singles it was a real family affair this time.  The winner was Glastonbury’s Stuart Salter on 47 points, one just pin ahead of his son Martin.

It was another family affair in the ladies’ pairs competition with Mellissa Collins and her daughter Dawn Collins from Malvern took the top honours, with Non Jones and Ceri Lambert in second place.  Again a best friends team thing here with Non and Ceri!

In the men’s pairs Brian Dorrington and Lloyd Pennington from Berkeley Glos, emerged the winners, beating last year;s winners, Dave Perrett and Julian Hembery from Highbridge into second place.

Mixed pairs winners were Kieran Cambers and Rachel Dyer who were successfully paired on for the competition.  Kieran is from Hereford and Rachel from Coleford.

Mixed pairs runners up  were Ryan Carpenter and Henriqueta Santos, flying the flag for Poole in Dorset.

Once again huge congratulations to every skittler for making this an unforgettable event!!!
